I wouldn't be but after sitting for over a year the first thing I'd
do is pull the tank off (3 bolts, one hose), drain it, add a lt of
fresh gas, slosh it around and dump that out. Add a cup of
methelhydrate, slosh that around, drain, reinstall the tank. Don't
put any gas into it until your ready to try starting it. Your carbs
are going to need some cleaning. How much work that is depends on how
bad they are. Pull the float bowls (can be done on the bike) and see
how much varnish and gunk you have. Small traces just hose them down
with a can of spray cleaner inside and out, lots of goo....
I'm going to try the pinesol soak with my sled carbs, I did my bike by hand.
Get a small container and spray some spray into it till you have 1/4"
in the bottom. Soak your needles and screws in this as you
disassemble and clean the carb.
I'm not 100% sure it's a good idea or not but to make a small brush
for cleaning the small passages and holes I cut up short pieces of
stranded wire. And one usb cable that didn't work had a nice shielded
wire. I faired out the shielding and pushed it through a few of the
passages. For the jets I used a single strand from 14ga automotive
wire. I also have a tip cleaner from a cutting torch but decided that
would be too abrasive.

Hey Pat! Glad to hear from a local. I'm by the freeway, 96th and 160th.
Update: the bike is now in my garage(no big doors, just a 3ft
mandoor. It's a heavy beast, and access in is awkward. Gonna have
to park it outside in a month. I am smelling a little bit of gas
from the top of the tank, should I be worried? I'll post pictures in a bit.
Cheers!

Hey a local, I'm about 40 min east of you depending on where in
Surrey. I'm just off the Sumas exit in Abbotsford. I work
fri, sat, sun at 104 and 176 if you need any help. Once the weather
gets better we'll have to go for a ride. Those east coasters get to
do it all the time being all clumped together like they are.
And ya for our market I'd be all over that bike for $500.
