Hi Hans,

I made a fresh installation of today's LMTX update in a separate tree on Ubuntu (linux-64), rather than updating my existing installation.

The installation completed without problems. I get:

ConTeXt 2026.10.01 18:42 LMTX
LuaMetaTeX 2.11.10, functionality level 20260923
Lua 5.5

|mtxrun.lmt|and |context.lmt|are both found correctly, alongside |mtxrun.lua|, and normal processing works as expected.

I also tested the |.notdef|changes. When loading several Latin Modern CFF fonts from a fresh cache, ConTeXt reported, for example:

|otf reader > cff > missing .notdef, using a rectangle instead|

This occurred with Latin Modern regular/bold/italic/bolditalic and also with the math fonts. The generated PDF rendered without problems in Evince and Firefox/PDF.js, and Poppler/Cairo (|pdftocairo|) rasterized it without errors. |pdffonts|identifies the embedded Latin Modern subset as CID Type 0C, Identity-H, embedded/subsetted with Unicode mapping.

I then compiled the attached slightly broader test document, exercising text and font variants, Unicode, OpenType math, a table, colors, MetaFun/MPLIB and the PDF backend. It compiles cleanly in two passes and produces the attached PDF.

So far I have not found any problem with the new installer/tooling or with the |.notdef|changes on this Ubuntu installation.

I attach the test source and resulting PDF.

Best,

Jean-Pierre

Hi,

I pushed an update:

-- the installer is upgraded
-- therefore we need a few tests before we're sure all is ok
-- so either wait or make a copy, update and report back
-- the changes are:
-- a bit more efficient download (some 30% gain due to
      better saturation of bandwidth)
   -- https (as an option)

-- we also move to mtxrun.lmt (and context.lmt) which should
just work (alway swas possible) but is now default for lmtx
-- the mtxrun.lua fils is for luatex (mkiv)
-- this means that i can move some more into .lmt files which
in some cases can be more efficient and less code
-- also, by being decouples we can let mtxrun move forward

It somethign is broken, sorry, but it's fixable (like some file missing or so). Also, an update that concerns a bit change in tooling is always kind of tricky and hard to test.

-- There has been some .notdef relates upgrade (hopefully satisfying all viewers) so please report issues with that.

Hans
