yes, it might not really be missing but could have no shape so we add
one, just to play safe
This occurred with Latin Modern regular/bold/italic/bolditalic and also
with the math fonts. The generated PDF rendered without problems in
Evince and Firefox/PDF.js, and Poppler/Cairo (|pdftocairo|) rasterized
it without errors. |pdffonts|identifies the embedded Latin Modern subset
as CID Type 0C, Identity-H, embedded/subsetted with Unicode mapping.

I then compiled the attached slightly broader test document, exercising
text and font variants, Unicode, OpenType math, a table, colors,
MetaFun/MPLIB and the PDF backend. It compiles cleanly in two passes and
produces the attached PDF.

So far I have not found any problem with the new installer/tooling or
with the |.notdef|changes on this Ubuntu installation.
I attach the test source and resulting PDF.
