As a member, I don't see the logic in this decision. As a few people have
already said, this will be a big turn-off for non-members who are on the
mailing list because they still participate in club events from time to
time.

And really, have postings from non-members really caused that much trouble?
Yes there are some heated discussions from time to time. I might be wrong,
but it seems a lot of the messages in those threads come from members.

I think the club will lose a lot more then it will gain if it follows
through with this. Not to mention the work required to implement these
measures.
