It is completely self contained.

In fact there are a few pages that just won't work in Firefox such as
Windows Update.

I currently use Firefox (as does most of our staff) and am very happy
with it.

I use the Tabbed Browser Extensions which basically force all new
windows to appear as a new Tab so I only ever have one window for my
browser, but many pages open at once.

I also use the Download Manager Tweak which puts the downloads into a
tab so its easier to get to and see whats going on.
