Well, then I'm out of my league in case of book sales.

Facts I do know:
1) One friend of mine sells his image processing 19.95$ shareware using only 
website+digibuy. he got
to 1200+ sales by end of first year.
2) Another friend: almost 4000 annual with shareware for MS Office. again website + 
digibuy +
newsgroups promo.
3) When we just started 4gamers.com few years ago, just in 3 months we got up to 20 
sales per day
using *only* search engines + pricewatch.com for promotion. and that with 100-200$ 
hardware ( i.e.
not books for 19-25$ )

Well, probably this numbers can't be applied to table RPG industry as is, but they do 
show lots of
promise for direct web sales as a method.
