I'm sending this message to ooo-l10n, the main discussion list for
OpenOffice translation/localization, and to the individual addresses of
people who contacted ooo-l10n about the Polish translation but might
have missed answers (and I likely forgot someone; feel free to forward).
1) It's great to have you here and as a first step I'm asking people who
haven't done so yet to subscribe the ooo-l10n list, otherwise you might
miss answers: send an empty message to
[email protected] and respond to the confirmation
request you will receive.
2) We have a Polish build available. It does not include yet the work
that you have done in the last weeks, but you may want to have a look at
it and see if there are major problems. You can find it at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds
3) Bartoz created an issue
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121195 which we will use
to track the translation status. Some of you have already been working
on updating the Polish translation. I recommend that when you have the
final version of the translated PO files you upload them there so that
we can import them in the OpenOffice source code.
4) You are a team and some, if not all, of you, have probably been
coordinating with private e-mails and this list. Would it help if we
created a discussion list for the Polish translation volunteers, where
you can coordinate better? This might take a couple of weeks due to the
ongoing infrastructure changes. In the meantime, feel free to coordinate
here (on ooo-l10n) as a temporary solution, but make sure you are
subscribed.
5) Finally, may we have an update on the status of the Polish
translation? I recall that Juergen made the Polish PO files available
and that you started translating them. The issue mentioned above has a
"partial translation" attached. The process would normally be something
like:
- PO files are translated (if more than one volunteer is involved, they
can take care of separate files);
- translated PO files are reviewed (this is easy to do if in POEdit you
mark as "fuzzy" the strings you modified; otherwise, review is more
practical if done at a later stage);
- reviewed PO files are uploaded to the issue page (in case of size
problems, just host them where you wish or send a note here);
- translations are integrated and a new snapshot build is produced
- all volunteers download and install the snapshot build and make sure
the translation is OK
- the translation is integrated in the next release.
Regards,
Andrea.
