These patches appear to apply to the version in ports, although
the first hunk of the patch to dns.c had to be done manually.
Compiled and reinstalled, and with the IPA of a nameserver given
to the new -D option, it worked and displayed host names.
It's still a mystery why the original code failed so grossly.
Perhaps it has been trick-linked to go through some gnomish routines.
