OpenPKG as a whole is not self contained with respect to this issue,
of course. But it would be sufficient if "make" uses $(MAKE) only and
"binutils" and "gcc" respect $(MAKE) and $(CC) everywhere. This should
be the case AFAIK and more should be not required. Because once you have
"make", "binutils" and "gcc" you are self-hosting within the OpenPKG
instance.

If you want to use symlinks place them into
/openpkg/lib/openpkg/fallback/. This is where those links should be
installed in order to not disturb the system.
