 Jörg, as I see it, OpenSolaris may be two words slammed together :

           Open Solaris

 Remember back in the days of the pilot?  Those two words were used a lot
and then the marketing folks ( or whomever ) decided that OpenSolaris is
the brandname or trademark.  Wholly owned by Sun of course.

 What it really is, to me, is Open UNIX.  This is about taking a previously
closed proprietary UNIX(tm) distro and making it open such that other UNIX
distros would be possible.  OpenSolaris is two words slammed together where
one of them is a product name.  Like OpenCorvette but the real concept is
Open Automobile.

 OpenSolaris is about UNIX being made open.

 That is what it is to me and always has since day zero of the pilot.
