No resources is a practical reason, but there should be no moral dilemma in 
forking, if Oracle/Sun is not playing their role in the partnership with the 
community. Partnership only works when and until there is a mutual trust. If 
the trust is lost - there is no point in pretending that it is still around. So 
"starting up what would effectively be an organization that would compete with 
Sun/Oracle" would not be a problem, if the partnership would be considered 
dissolved. It's not the community that initiated or intended this situation. 
It's up to Oracle to step up. If they keep silent - it shows that they have no 
interest in maintaining the partnership. Let's get real. Oracle had enough time 
to produce some clear position.
