Actually, the mobile core i5-2515E&  i7-2715QE will allegedly include ECC RAM 
support so don't be surprised if some desktop class CPUs will also.

I highly doubt Intel will do this. There's no technical reason not to, but it's a product-line differentiator for them. They could do it now, but don't, and I can't see any reason for them to change their behavior.

Remember that a i7 and a Xeon 5xxx are effectively identical CPUs (even today), except for the fact that the Xeons have an ECC-enabled Memory controller.
