In the case of music the two terms that best describe the person who plays
somebody else´s composition are "performer" and "interpreter" (while
"player" sounds as inespecific as "folder")
Origami is not generally a performing kind of art (well, with lots of
honorable exceptions, see Jeremy Shafer or many others) so I tend to favor
"interpreter"

The term describes not only the fact of passively folding or neutrally
performing instructions, but actively decoding the authors work and
rendering their own version. Though I agree it might sound awkward, even in
Spanish.
