Hi Werner,

I'm afraid osgUtil::SmoothingVisitor is a black box, there isn't
anything you do to tweak the way it works. You could possible try to
tweak the source code to SmoothingVisitor yourself, or just go and
write your own normal computation algorithm.

Hello there.

We are currently running some tests visualizing some terrain (TIN) data in
OSG (v.1.0).
In our TIN model, we have certain areas that are "cut out" from the surface
itself. Using the SmoothingVisitor in OSG to calculate the normals doesn't
seem to handle this very well. (see attached image).

It seems like the visitor has problems finding the normals at the edges
where the "cut out form" has removed parts of the TIN.
Is this a know feature of the SmoothingVisitor, and does it mean that we
will have to calculate the normals and handle the special cases ourselves?
Or does anyone have any usefull tips on how to make the visitor behave
properly?

Regards, Werner Lindgård.
