I've never been to Hodad's (YET!) but I have heard of them, and they are on my list of 1000 Burger Joints I Must See Before I Die. Out here in the boonies, we don't really have great burgers. Fatburger, In-N-Out and Sonic are all in the low-desert (Palm Springs and further east). They also have Tyler's and Hamburger Mary's (great local spots) and the now-ubiquitous Ruby's (for me there is only one, and it is on the Balboa Pier.) In Victorville, there is Hollandburger, which is incredibly good, and in Baker there is The Mad Greek, which I drive to without even thinking of going to Vegas. Where else can you get a great burger, and a Spanacopita, and wash it down with a great milkshake?

There's a Fatburger here in town, which I do *not* frequent (for the same reason as you, Paul!). Then again, there's Hodad's down in Ocean Beach, only about 30 miles away, and ranked among the top burger places in the country.
