Nice. Remember the pan is different kind of like a Ghia with convert
reinforcing and some other differences. Also most had the old style king
pin front end in the early models. It seemed almost like they were built
from random parts of older VWs. They defined "funky" when it came to
automobiles.
I have had type 1,2,3 and 4. My favourite was a 66 Type 2 Hotel van
with sunroof. I also had a number of customs including a type 4 powered
bug which had been hit by a refuse vehicle in the rear. A lot of wood
later and I had what appeared to be a prototype of a beetle based stake
side pickup. I also have has both "Cal Look" and "Hawaii Look" (Cal Look
but with all white rubber) bugs, a SCORE off roader and a Formula Vee.
Yep, I am seriously certifiable, =^-^=

                                                                cat
