I have a '66 Kombi and my oldest son is driving a '66 bug. The bus came to us "restored", actually just painted and a new engine. I am trying to have a company out here restore it to factory fresh. (The Lovely Mrs. tells me it is the last car I will own, so I am going to make it last.) We have $6500 into it so far. My son and I did all of the work on the bug, about $8000 and it is 90% complete. But he insists he will be driving it on its 70th birthday. Another generation is corrupted. I am proud...

Of the 3 I have in my yard now, I paid $200 for the '71 Super Beetle (Complete car) got the '71 Squareback for free (paid $300 to have it and a '68 Baja from Barstow) and got the rolling shell of the '65 Baja for free. Of course I have since put about $4000 into the Super Beetle, but the other two haven't cost me a dime.
