Yes! I did read about the background hiss but there's none of that here whatever and I particularly looked for that, as one reviewer commented "you'd expect better from a top of the line speaker system", I can only think of a few reasons as to why some people may be getting background hiss.
Firstly I use good quality shielded leads between computer and speaker system, the lead that comes with the Altec Lansing - whilst able to do the job admirably in most cases - is quite thin thus interference may leak in through the lead if some people ar running their computer systems or speaker system near say ADSL modems, other switch mode supplies etc. Background noise through the Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra system here is none, dead silence.
