Gotta chime in with a me too here. I'm digital prepress/graphic design for a 4 color print shop and use X every day all day... and all night since its on my home computer as well. At work the only reason I need to boot into 9 is to use my scanners....I no longer boot into 9 at home and I haven't been able to crash X yet bad enough to cause work stoppage which if any of you have ever worked in a service bureau used to happen all the time since suprisingly enough many people who make a living on computers don't know how to make their designs so that they will Rip correctly or they use corrupt fonts that choke system and Rip. I put it on my home computer first to work the bugs out and learn the OS... and of course had to jump a few hurdles getting it to run well on my 7200 ie. getting the L2 cache to work and waiting long enough for ATI to make an upgrade to work with the newest X upgrade. When I went from 10.1.5 to Jaguar my average frame rates went from 20 something average to 8 in Unreal Tournament, but then with the 10.2.4 upgrade my Rage Orion is working well again. After seeing my system and how little problems I have, several of the designers are going X now.... though my phone rings all the time as they attempt to remain productive while heading over the learning curve. I'm the unofficial mac tech support for most of the designers on Hilton Head Island. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
