Maybe I should have made myself a little more clear. When I said
"evaluation" copy, I meant that the computer was shipped with a running
version of 8.6 installed, but that I did not have a license to use that
software. It was installed by the seller to allow me to verify the
computer works, and to delete it once I have done so. Standard
practice when buying a used computer off auction sites. When I stated
an old, used copy, I meant that it has been customized and patched for
the previous owner and has a bunch of stuff that I don't want. I would
like to start fresh. I own OS X.1 (bought from a store) which includes
Mac OS 9.2.1. My idea was to install the OS 9.2.1 on the 8500
(probably not legal either since the license is for only one computer).
I'm sorry about the confusion. The bottom line is that 9.2.1 won't
install on the PM 8500. Is there a workaround?

Thanks

Tom
