Tom:
You NEED to have OS 9.1 installed on your computer in order to run the
XPostFacto or the Sonnet program that will allow you to initialise and
pre-condition a hard drive to accept an install of OSX.

Not 9.2.1

You need to get OS9.1 installed on the 8500..

Your 8500 can NOT boot off the 9.2 CD and NEVER WILL.

Your 8500 can not boot off the OSX CD and NEVER WILL.

But from an install of 9.1 you can precondition and initialise a hard drive
to act as a startup device that will accept a OSX install.
