Any chance you have something plugged into the RCA video out port? If so you may have a video display going out on that port and if it's the main screen, that would be where all your stuff is. The computer senses the connection of a display (or something) and makes it a video display. It takes a restart to make a change. Of the desktop area you can see on the screen is it all there with a black band all around? If it isn't then the display is probably either operating in the wrong mode or the controls need to be adjusted.
