I once had a prob with menu bar and icons near edges, in my case it was that
the monitor controls needed adjustment, there are nobs that middle the
image, raise tops and sides and bottom etc, my menu "came back from behind
the edge" after this.

If you are running two screens, check your sounds and monitors control panel
for where you have the menu and which monitor is left and which right.

There is another trick that could be fun: write a script to tell some
desktop icon you know the name of to appear at such and such a coordinate
(mess with the coordinates until it appears and this might tell you what is
going on with your screen... If you want an applescript, contact me (you
will find this very thing in the Help - except maybe you can't get to this
menu item!)

You would have solved the prob with the good help of others on this list by
time you read this, but just in case ...
