I decided the lesser of the evils was to accept the two hundred plus spam messages a day in order to keep my business life line open. Spam eats up about thirty minutes of my day (every day).
30 mins a day is unacceptable.
You need to rethink your strategy.
1. Take action to reduce the actual spam sent. Don't improperly publish your email address, etc.
2. Use reliable email client that supports both bayesian and regexp filters, such as Eudora. Learn how to properly use its features.
On my 8 unfiltered email addresses, so far this month, I am receiving an average of 90 spams a day. Perhaps four a day get past my filters - because I've chosen to be very conservative, to prevent false positivies. It takes at most 5 minutes to process those four spams - identify senders isp, forward to abuse addr, update filter, apply filter.
