The cool differences there are that aside from hidden parts of programs which are added to the System File, (think Win.Com), although that rarely happens, files for programs on Macs are basically in their own folders, in the extensions folder, in the control panels folder, in the preferences folder or in the System Folder and easily identified for the most part. No archaic read-only or hidden .DLLs, .INFs or .VXDs to trace back to whose names have nothing to do with the program that they manage. Backing up is done by a software program, or you just drag-and-drop the entire drive to a zip or hard disk for duplication. Now, to be truthful, in OS X it's more like Windows.
