Far FAR more computers have CD drives or USB ports than have Zip drives. In fact, Zip drives are becoming a rarity. And if you think they're tough you never got a click-o-death Zip. In my experience Zip drives are mildly more reliable than floppy disks. (Syquest's EZ-Drive 135 MB disks were much faster and more reliable, if less well known and advertised. Zip drives are a monument to 'mediocrity, well advertised' triumphing over technical superiority.)

CDRW's will probably not work 1000 times, but watch for sales and rebate deals. I picked up a 100-pack of CDR-disks for nothing and a 250-pack for $3.50. At those prices using a write-once CD to transfer even 6K of data becomes reasonable.

(my current minimum record for 'I *bleeping* have to get this little driver on this *bleeping* computer' file transfer using a CD.)

On MODERN computers, using a CDR disk is as simple as pooping it in the drive, dragging the file to the disk and ejecting the disk.

Yeah, I love CDs. So cheap CD-RW seems a waste of time. And Zips too.

Although at Kent state Zips are every where.. In order to provide customers for the machines that vend them.

You could get hundreds of CDs for what the machine wants for Zip disks.
