Sorry I failed to make it plain it is an external firewire drive.

I will search the XLR8 site more later tonight. But I looked at three pages of listed FAQs and no mention of firewire drives.

And I guess I will have to open the case to find the drive model.

System profiler should tell you the model of the drive if you look at it while it's plugged in.

It does for the SCSI bus

(Probably, OS X's does, but my OS 9-fu is receding ever farther into the misty past...I'm not even likely to install it on my new Pismo. I backed up the ol' boat anchor SCSI with my OS 9 install at home, and will probably turn it off, perhaps permanently. There isn't much on there that I still need.)

As I said, firewire or ata on the bus is irrelevant to iTunes and the authoring extensions. They see a drive; how it's connected doesn't matter.

Okeeh. . . .

And I guess Apple would rather help Windoze users burn from iTunes on the slim chance they may snag a convert.
While ignoring fostering the good will of the already converted.

iTunes almost certainly supports your drive, every update has added a number of drives to the list. iTunes is up to version 4.7.1. You're using version 2.

Would you fault Adobe if your version 3 of Illustrator didn't open current Freehand files, or would you concede that perhaps if you want the latest support you should use the latest version?

Well I have OS 9.1 and for a while I am sticking with it. Do I have to buy something everytime what I have doesn't work? If that was the case this list would not exist and we would all either have the latest and greatest or nothing at all.

Apple threw the wake, had the funeral and buried OS 9 almost three years ago...<http://tinyurl.com/4x78x>

Well Commodore buried the **iga ten years ago and I know a lot of guys running **rkbench of PCs at insane speeds. Best GUI on the planet.

I know there are many people who use it daily and are happy with it, just don't rag on Apple for failing to 'foster the good will of the already converted'.

You're NOT 'already converted' if you're not using OS X, are you?

I have a spiffy "new" OEM OS X from sittihg in the sleeve . I just have a life outside of constantly beating my head against techo barriers.
It feels so good when i stop.

And I don't just rag on Apple. And cut me some slack i have had 2 hours sleep in the last 36. Too much green tea while processing sound files
for school.

OS X isn't going to go away, it's not a passing fad, it's not something you can wish away, and OS 9's not something Apple wastes any time on any more.

I have seen some people on the lists seeking OS 6 help. in the last week. So I do not feel bad at all. I have been on disability retirement for ten years
Was in a nursing home for 2 years until September and since I got out with renewed mobility I have paid out of my meager monthly income to go back to college and make something of myself at the age of 59. And what the @$#%%#$% would someone with a good paying job know about using obsolete Macs to dig oneself out of a DEEP hole of poverty know about the real world down here with just us poh' folk?

And if you think Apple's favoring the Windows folk, well, you didn't hear the howls of outrage when Apple released iTunes for Windows and said you needed Win2K or better to use it.

Like all the OS 9 grognards, there are hordes of Windoids out there with Win95 and 98, and no intentions of upgrading.

Y'all are gonna start sounding like bitter Amiga users next. 8-P

I AM a bitter **miga user ! I admit it proudly so there. !
Wish I was rich enough for an **miga G5 they keep talking about.
Give me a machine that can walk and chew gum at the same time anytime!

Is it spring yet?

This cabin is getting way too small.

And Bruce since you are obviously well of enough for new Mac stuff Please send any cast off OS X using G4 Sawtooths or better my way. And please be a buddy. Pick up the shipping on that too.OK?

Love ya!
