Jacob I never saw your reply until now when Peter replied. It's not really a 'command', It's just a box you uncheck. There is a 'control panel' tab, or entry in TweakUI, and you just uncheck the box to display printers in the control panel. Hmmm, I just checked it in my XP, and it doesn't have the printers entry! It has most of the other control panel items, but no printers. So, that won't work!
If what Peter said doesn't fix it, then I don't know what else to say. Yes, it's good to be 'aware' of it, but it shouldn't cause you that much concern since it's just an icon. You've tried everything else, except for uninstalling all 20 of the programs. If it bugs you that much, then that's what you may have to do; uninstall the programs one by one until the icon comes back. Then re-install all of them except the one that changed the icon. Then when you install it again, be sure to choose any 'custom install' if available and don't associate the program or software with anything. I have an icon problem with XP as well. To mention one, I can't change my control panel icon on my desktop. It won't "take". -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner Want to exchange links with us? http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Kaulback" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Have you tried deleting your shelliconcache file from the C:\Windows folder? It is a hidden system file. Do this then restart your system. Windows will automatically rebuild the file fresh and this may cure what ails your system.
