Thanks Clint, FYI, it's my 2nd reinstallation of this XP Pro, with all those 20 and more softwares. So I think I won't need the 3rd, I was to tired to do that again and again to trace the trigger when the problem always come back with different triggers. On 1st reinstallation, this icon changed when I was opening my Office XP (after the installation about 15 softwares or more, can't recall it) and on 2nd reinstallation, it changed when I was opening Windows Media Player to play a movie (after the installation about 20 softwares or more) So I think what I need know (if you all can help me) a simple 'icon recovery tools' rather than make a fresh reinstallation. If someone can help me how to control the icons on this Control Panel, it will be a great help for me. But thanks anyway for all of your clues. - Jacobus J. S. (Kiki) -

It's not really a 'command', It's just a box you uncheck. There is a 'control panel' tab, or entry in TweakUI, and you just uncheck the box to display printers in the control panel. Hmmm, I just checked it in my XP, and it doesn't have the printers entry! It has most of the other control panel items, but no printers. So, that won't work! If what Peter said doesn't fix it, then I don't know what else to say. Yes, it's good to be 'aware' of it, but it shouldn't cause you that much concern since it's just an icon. You've tried everything else, except for uninstalling all 20 of the programs. If it bugs you that much, then that's what you may have to do; uninstall the programs one by one until the icon comes back. Then re-install all of them except the one that changed the icon. Then when you install it again, be sure to choose any 'custom install' if available and don't associate the program or software with anything. I have an icon problem with XP as well. To mention one, I can't change my control panel icon on my desktop. It won't "take". -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner Want to exchange links with us? http://OrpheusComputing.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ikuti polling TELKOM Memo 166 di www.plasa.com dan menangkan hadiah masing-masing Rp 250.000 tunai ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
