On most mobo's you press the [delete] key while booting. On others it can be F1.
The fact that it DID work previously, is a different story. It would seem (if you didn't change anything) that a USB port went bad. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "LarryB" Clint, Thanks for replying. I just tried 3 times to read that screen at the start up on how to get to BIOS but have failed 3 times. Something about enter and delete I think. It flashes too fast. I'll check those things when I get to the screen. Both computers are using XP. They are both USB 2.0 Also when I first tried the device, which was 1 or 2 weeks ago, it worked fine. Now it does not. I tried to go back to a restore position of 2 weeks ago but that did not help. Does the one that doesn't recognize it have enough USB ports enabled in the BIOS? Is there a "Legacy USB" entry in the BIOS on that one? If so, that may have to be enabled. Have you tried to go to "Add New Hardware" and have it scan automatically for new devices? I assume they are both XP PC's? If not, and it's a '98 PC, they sometimes need patches for certain USB devices. Is this device USB 2.0? If so, then maybe the PC doesn't support USB 2.0 devices. -Clint ******************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- ************************************************* From: "LarryB" < I have a device that is recognized on one of my computers using the Windows XP while the other computer will not recognize this device. It will recognize other devices though. I was going to delete the USB items in the device manager but because I am using wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse I would be unable to use the computer anymore. When I install the device then go to device manager it shows up as "unknown device" and I have tried installing other drivers but nothing seems to help. There is no software with the device. (the device is a Iway 350 gps) Thanks ******************************************************************* ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
