Thanks to all that tried to help in this situation. I think I have
something that will work now. I downloaded IrFanView, then with Foxit
which will let me snapshot on a protected document I take a snapshot of
the info within a page, then launch IrFanview hit ctrl V then adjust it
to fill the 8 x 11 sheet and it prints ok. I did have to set a
preference in Foxit to take snapshots at 72 dpi.
All this is only for protected documents if the document is unprotected
you only need to use Adobe, take a snapshot, then select print and
select "print graphic" and it works even better.

Try zooming in on the PDF file, then taking a screenshot with
the print screen key. If that doesn't work you can send me the
file off list and I can probably get the shot out of it. I
have some other Adobe PDF programs. (Let me know first you are
sending it because I may have to give you another address and
it may have to zipped first, or just tell me the download
link).
Not sure which "window" at left you mean. If it's like the
thumbnail view, you should see an "X" or "close" or something
like that within the window. Also try "View" and you can
probably uncheck something there.

I tried using FoxIt but it will not let me save it. Says it is
protected. Also How do you get rid of the page window on the
left?
I also tried to take a snapshot which works but no print
function and
when you open the snapshot in an image program the resolution
is very
poor and not useable.
FoxIt also said I might be able to save the document if I
purchased
their pro version.!

Try opening it in FoxIt. Then save out from Foxit with a
different
name. You may well have an unprotected document after that.

Well after a bit of running around I was able to find out
two things.
First you are correct the document is protected and you can
tell by
going to file then document properties then security and it
will tell
you what is protected. Next in a document that is not all
protected
you can select an area with the snapshot function then go to
print and
it will say print graphic and it will print just the area
you selected
filling the complete paper size.
Now if I can just unprotect the document I will be able to
print what
I need.

The best test would be to go back to a document that worked
before
and see if you can print from it. If so, then the current
one that
you are working with is protected. I'm not sure, unless
you have the
full acrobat program (not just the reader) that you can
tell if a doc
is protected.

Actually I have done this before where I just select a
part of the
page I want text or what ever and after selecting I go to
print and
the "print selection" is available. For some reason I can
not
remember if I used the camera or the data selection tool.
In any
case it does not work anymore.
How would I tell if the document is protected. These are
TV schematics.

There are some pdf documents that the author has
protected. With
these, you cannot copy any part of it. You might try
FoxIt reader
(pdf reader) where you can save back a copy and now you
should be
able to take parts of it as you are trying. To get just
text, you
do not want to use the camera, but the little vertical
line that
allows you to highlight the text you want. If you want
the full
graphic layout, etc, then you will want to use the camera
which
will copy to a graphics program (via the clipboard). You
can get
Foxit at

I tried the detect and repair function but it did not
fix it. I
wonder if I am using it correctly. I view a page the
click on the
little camera snapshot the drag across the area I want
to print.
In my case the camera is always dimmed plus no action
when clicked
of coarse.
I tried removing the program then reinstalling it and
that did not
work either.

FWIW, mine still works. You can also go to "Help" and
do the
"Detect and repair" function and see if that fixes it.
What
exactly do you need to do with the "shot"? Reason I
ask is there
are other ways if it can't be repaired.

My adoboe reader 7 does not have the ability to select
a part of
a page
and then print it. The "snapshot" function is not
available. It is
dimmed. The object select function is there and appears
to
function but
I can't find any info on it in the help menu. All I
want to do is
select
a part of a page and print it.
Thanks for any help.
