That is true for Acrobat 5, this is NO LONGER true for Acrobat 6. Acro6 now support all of the same transitions as PPT - including per-bullet transitions such as fly-ins...
Other than transitions and hyperlinks within text, the PDFMaker macros do fairly little in the way of preserving PPT interactivity in PDF, but it's possible to do far more w/o a lot of attention from the user.
Again, this was true in Acrobat 5 - it is NO LONGER true with Acrobat 6.
