Hmmm, sounds like fun. Call me lazy but .... I've decided to take a different route .... taking my GIF files and converting them to JPEG. I've found a gif2jpg converter (windows binary) at the following link. http://www.programmersheaven.com/zone10/cat99/3246.htm Seems to work well enough (on XP). This will allow me to 'use' GIFs but still have a smaller footprint that converting to bitmap. One day I'll have to look into actually creating a bitmap/raster image but for now I'll need to live with my workaround .... Thanks for the reply. JPEG is the only file format that can be placed into a PDF w/o modification... >Can someone outline what is required for including a GIF >image into a PDF document ... Well, the easiest way to do this is... * Decode the GIF into a memory bitmap/raster image (obviously you'll need a GIF decoder for this) * Write out that bitmap as an Image XObject (as you did for JPEG). That will create a working PDF and image, though it will be bigger than necessary since you'll be going from an indexed image to a full color image. >Any sample objects would be much appreciated. > There are a number of other open source PDF generators that can handle GIF that would be a good place to start.
