I agree Mafud - but isnt the reason that Pentax now dominate that market
because they invested heavily in it. I remember a time (10-12 years ago -
guesstimate only) when the key players in the P&S market were Canon and
Olympus and Minolta to a lesser extent. Nikon didnt figure and Pentax didnt
even make a P&S camera. At that time Pentax's image for serious work was
higher amongst other equipment users. I think that Pentax serious gear may
suffer in market image terms because of a popular image of Pentax as a P&S
manufacturer. Many of the younger low end Canon and Nikon users probably
used Pentax P$S cameras "before" they got "serious" about photography.
Just a theory.
