Ok, that makes sense.  The digital SLR that Pentax announced is nice in
that it will at least accept our lenses, even if we have to carry around a
spare body as well.  Much cheaper to get a spare body than to duplicate
all of our lenses.  I imagine that Pentax will have to release a hybrid
body if the technology shifts that way, especially since they pride
themselves on their compatibility (and rightly so).  My question is: would
having a hybrid body really be useful right now?  If you're shooting both
film and digital in the same shoot, then you should probably have a
separate body for each so you don't have to change backs all the time.  If
you shoot one or the other, but not both at the same time, then it might
come in handy.
