It would end when the last person willing to bid won the auction. That's how live auctions work. Usually the
time extended is about 10 seconds but the on line world is "different". There are drawbacks to everything.

Ebay could easily "fix" this by extending the end of the auction for 5 minutes after the last bid but they obviously choose not to
do that. It could be a seller option, they could even charge for it as it would drive the price up.
