I suppose a "normal lens" today is a zoom lens, meaning normally on the body for "casual shooting".
For the Pentax *ist D (APS-C format) I suppose it's something like the SMC Pentax 16-45mm F4 ED AL, although a little slow for my taste. I guess my choice would be something like the Sigma 2.8/18-50 DC (equal to something like 28-75mm for 35mm) as the normal lens (I haven't got/tried it yet, though...). It's priced very similar to the Pentax 16-45mm.
