I made the same statement when I first looked at the Ds's manual.... But as a fellow list member mentioned, they don't tell you about the info on how to use the non-A lenses on the manual. I think they'll prefer that you go and buy new lenses! So, I would not trust the manual or spec sheets on this particular matter.
