I just got back from the 51st annual Grandfather Mountain Camera Clinic. As
usual great photo ops and great speakers. PDML members in attendance were:
our List Guy, Doug Brewer, Tom Van Veen, Tom Rittenhouse and myself. Doug
was kind enough to let me fondle and use his 100/2.8 Macro, although my wife
wasn't too happy about it since it's now on my "must have" list. Tom V
brought each of us that had been at the Nature Photo Weekend last June a
very nice enlargement of the PDML folks from that outing. Thanks again Tom,
and for the pizza too! Tom R brought much wisdom and knowledge to share
with us and let us fondle his Crown Graphic.
Saturday evening, we were treated to a wonderful presentation by Cramer
Gallimore on the recovery and excavation of the first submarine to sink an
enemy ship, the H.L. Hunley. More information on this project can be found
at:
http://www.hunley.org/html/frame.htm
This morning, Sunday, we were treated to a presentation by Mike Stocker,
Southern Photographer of the year. Following Mike's presentation, Hugh
Morton, the owner of Grandfather Mountain gave us a talk about how to use
photography to influence public opinion, a subject he is very good at.
I also got to shoot quite a bit with my new MZ-S and hope to sort out my
impressions and post them later. Suffice it to say for now that it's one
helluva a nice camera.
