I haven't posted to any of these threads yet but I have to add a "me to" to the
sentiments here.

This wasn't an attack on the U.S. by terrorists.
It was an attack on all of humanity by inhumanity.
It was an attack on civilization by savagery.
It was an attack on thought by base instinct.
It was an attack on reason by rage.
It was an attack on hope by evil.

The forces that were involved in the events of yesterday were far larger than
any one nation or people. Far more fundamental. And far more important.

It wasn't an attack by "them" against "us".
It was an attack by "us" against "us": humans against their fellow beings.
If you have felt, as I did, even the smallest bit of hate towards those who
committed the crimes of September 11, and had the desire to lash back and cause
those responsible unspeakable pain then you know--in a much smaller way--the
force that drove them to their terrible acts. The difference is that you and I
don't act on these raw emotions.

Wherever you are, whatever nationality you are, take a moment now to stop and
look at someone you love. Another human being: bones and blood, hair and skin
and eyes and all the faults and imperfections that flesh is prone to. And yet
capable--every one--of creating beauty.

"Us" in lower case letters. That's what was attacked yesterday.
