I have a few multichannel recordings I really like, but thats only a few, I have thousands of stereo and mono recordings I really like. Hi end Multichannel can sound fantastic with SACD or DVD-Audio, but there is just hardly any good multichannel recordings out there and there wont be for many years to come. jco

I'm not a fan of multi channel setups. I prefer putting the money in a good stereo setup. This is partly a economical decision, partly my old prejudices from the bad old days when the first 4 channel setups came. It was impossible to find a production where you did not sit _in_ the orchestra. To put it simple, it was crap. I realise this has changed, I have heard good multi channel productions, but I stay away from because of the money involved. In my ears they don't sound decent before you invest a five figure number. But this is simply my taste. Do I need my asbestos outfit because I stated this? I have it here, but I believe I will have a hard time getting into it after the Christmas pudding ;-) Tim Mostly harmless (just plain Norwegian) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of J. There were too many great mono LPs in the 50's and 60's to not hear them as good as possible. Mono LPs sound much better using a dedicated mono cartridge. The only thing I havent done is use a single speaker in the middle for mono playback, due to ergonomics and economics. As far as mulichannel goes, the more the better, but the problem is there is very very little good multichannel software you can buy. Stereo recordings still are the vast majority of all high quality music recordings ever made and will be so for quite some time to come. jco -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of DagT Sent: Wednesday, January 03, 2007 10:09 AM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: OT: Occupations? I wouldn't. I have never been to a concert where the musicians stood in one line behind the front person, but I've been to a lot where they stood in distributed in a plane in front of me. Vocal in the middle, guitar to the right, backing vocals a little bit further away etc... DagT > Fra: graywolf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > You, know what?
