Lightroom 2 is a Public Beta at this point in time, probably reasonably stable but likely to have some bugs. Evaluation period for those without a key is 30 days, for those with a key it's due to expire in August. It is not at present compatible with v1.3.1 catalogs, nor are its metadata instructions guaranteed to work correctly with the current releases of Lightroom and Camera Raw.
Better to work with v1.3.1 and subsequent versions as your image processing mainstay until Lightroom 2 is finished and released. I'm working with LR2 as a test/evaluation effort.
