True but also less flexible.

Assuming that you don't require the added flexibility of a column for
reach or reduced size whilst the unit is packed.

I have a Manfrotto 058, it's got lots of reach using its legs alone
and is very stable even when fully extended but it's not something
that I'd remotely consider taking on a hike.
