Working in water, mud, sand or other mush is where the Benbo design
actually excels, the legs are "inverted" and sealed, meaning that the
larger pipe section is near the ground. The surface area of the feet
is larger and they are impervious to water, sand or dust to the first
leg joint, very handy.
I was wondering when the Benbo was going to get mentioned... it is hard
to describe to
someone who has never seen it in action, but invaluable for low angle
shooting with a minimum
of futzing around. I had a small lighter weight one that I took on the
trail because I normally
was interested in macro work shooting flowers and fungi and the
occasional lizard... the standard
sized one was fine for just hopping out of the car and setting up... or
when Caesar was around to
haul it at GFM :-)
The great disadvantage of the Benbo range is that users are mistaken for
the "Marcel Marceau - man setting up a deckchair in a gale" fan club.
