Whether PETA are a bunch of hypocritical scumbags has nothing to do
with whether it's ethical to eat meat.  Whether the consumption of
animal flesh is right or wrong has nothing to do with PETA, just as
(for instance) the issue of whether God exists has nothing to do with
organized religion.

That being said, my veganism is a personal choice and I don't judge
others for their dietary choices.  Enjoy your steak, Bill!  ;-)

Speaking about feeding your pet dog, I was at a vegetarian festival
(it was about as much fun as it sounds) a couple of years ago and
someone was actually selling vegan cat and dog food.  Now ~that's~
wrong - talk about going against nature!
