Random ramblings follow:

The question in all of this is, does Pentax, Hoya, whoever they are,
really want to compete in the marketplace or are they content with
being a 2nd tier semi-pro niche brand? Quite frankly I don't care,
because I've concluded Pentax will most likely be a day late and a
dollar short for the forseeable future. And despite the cost I'm
enamored with the idea of a Nikon D3x.

I quite frankly thought Apple was dead in the water in the mid-to-late
'90's but vision, innovation and capital turned it around.

As an IT person in the business world, and very infrequent Mac user, I
have no desire for a Mac. I don't see that they are inherently better
than a Windows based PC, anymore than a Stanley hammer is better than
a Craftsman hammer. I have no desire to learn the ins and outs of a
different platform, and I find it ironic that people I know with Macs
are often running in the Windows emulation mode.

I'm not saying anything bad about Macs, I just don't buy the hype.
