Well, maybe I am naive. However history certainly shows us that in a corporate capitalist system (I am distinguishing that from a pure capitalist system as described by Adam Smith) the rich/poor gap will always increase and society's most vulnerable will be left to fall between the cracks. The only way these things will change will be through government intervention.
Until you have government by the rich/ for the rich, which seems to be very much the case now in western democracies.
Do you really think that corporations will self-regulate or that eventually the infamous "unseen hand" will decide to lift the poor out of the gutter and provide health care for those with no money?
Nah, the Obama is going to make it illegal to not buy health insurance. That way the people who can't afford it will be criminals rather than just poor people.
