You'r very lucky to have never seen it. Google has heard of it.
You'll find plenty of references there. Frank Theriault pointed it
out in one of his pictures a year or two back.
The K100D and Super exhibit banding noise very badly from ISO 1600 and
up. This type of noise, which is *very* hard to cleanup, is one of the
main reasons I got a K20D (which is completely free of it no matter how
noisy the image gets). I assume the same banding noise appears in *istD
bodies as they have the same sensor.
