I have a K20D and you know in spite of beating the crap out of it, I love it. The K-5 /was/ a significant upgrade. If the specifications are true, and the Image quality holds up, this could be the Game Changer that the each new Pentax has been hyped as since the introduction of the K10D.

Face it: this camera is pretty astounding. If Ricoh has anything to do
with this event, then we have very good times to look forward to.

I was just reviewing the expanded feature pages. Just about every
feature where I ever thought "it would be nice if ..." they've
addressed. Even completely stock, tried-and-proven stuff like
center-weighted metering has been improved on (you can select the
radius now). You can control a more restrictive part of the AF square
to restrict auto-select to.

My K20D has reason to feel uneasy. _This_ is an upgrade. I already
contacted my pusher to arrange a hands-on. I need to see the AF in
action, but it's almost a slam dunk.

Pentax products have by recent tradition shipped just after the Christmas
buying season. That the K-3 will ship in time for the major buying season
in both the Christian world and Japan is simply astounding.

Word is that it ships in November (that would surprise me very much).
Still, it is intriguing enough and priced reasonably enough that a lot
of Pentaxians might just hop on that pre-order list and be the first
to get it WHENEVER it actually ships.

Now we await the dropping of the official MANUAL:

at:

after it is uploaded.

Not there yet.

DNG being DNG i assume these will be read by my older programs, LR4
PSEL 9 and PSCS??
