Hah! I do that all the time!
I decide to buy a new (to me) camera, and sell the older body to
offset the costs...
Never happens!
I have any number of lenses and bodies that are still HERE!
Why don't I sell them? I don't know.... but I will soon!

 Once I get a telephoto zoom that I like -- just leave it on the
camera. Or use it as a backup body, I mean even if the battery goes
out it still works. That could come in very handy on extended trips.
